Anglo-Nepalese War
Prime Minister Jang Bahadur: 1855 (May) cover with letter from Jang to the 4th Queen of King Surendra, the reverse with his personal ring seal in black and ink marked "Endorsed by Shri Jang Bahadur Kunwar Rana Ji". The Prime Minister was on the battlefront for only about 5 weeks. The letter is summarised as "I have received your letter dated 1912/2/15 with greatest respectfulness. At present I am in Tonata (close to Kary in Tibetan side). It's very cold here. We have reports that the Tibetans have stationed their forces around Jhanga Fort. We shall try for a peaceful settlement, but if they do not come to terms, we shall go for a war". An important letter. Photo
