1900s report to the Ministry of War, on imperial yellow paper with red band applied for the address and transmitted through the I-chang. From Zhanggu Tun in Maogong on the state of the ferry boat used to cross the river on the post route. Inside there is a large illustration of two men on a small boat navigating turbulent waters - quite possibly the ferry boat in question. A delightful and interesting letter. Photo

Maogong in Szechwan was an important place in history where Emperor Qianlong staged successive campaigns to subject the Tibetan tribes there
