Ireland, Edward I (1272-1307), Second Coinage, Early Issues, Halfpenny, 1279-1284, Dublin, •EDW•R AIIGL ' DIIS • HYB', unbarred Ns, crowned facing bust in triangle, rev. CIVITAS DVBLINIE, modified D, long cross, with trio of pellets in angles, 0.58g, 10h (S.6251 variety), an attempt made to disguise the second blundered D to I and half of N, the implied N missing its crossbar, die lettering errors scarce in the coinage, this pair has four and the coin rare thus, some wear to portrait and dig to right of crown, good fine/very fine
