1895 "Mulitas"
1895 10c. Green, die proof of unissued design (essay) on glossy card. Some oxidation spots not detracting from this unique piece. The only known example, exhibiting a similar design to the 10 Pesos, but denominated 10 centavos. Roberto Liera considered this one of the rarest items of Mexican philately. Ingham described it as "very scarce if not unique". Note: John Bash mentions this essay, and the other essay of the frame also offered in this sale, on page 312 of "Mexicana" (October 1964) and Chapman adds: "This proof is a designed by Edward Bouligay of 'Bouligay and Schmidt'. The die proof was damaged because it was applied pressure before being hardened and therefore is likely this is the unique example in existence".
