1872 "Hidalgos"
Veracruz Group of almost 40 mainly used stamps, nine covers including one cover front, neatly mounted on presentation pages (# 50-72 to 50-74 consignments) with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication. Stamps include 6c.-100c., as well as five "Papel Sellado" or "La Croix Frères" watermarks, varieties such as overprint corrections (#20 over #50), double overprint or missing year in the overprint. The cancellations include Alvarado, Coapilla, Chicaltianguis, Jáltipan, Otatitlán, Fortín, San Andrés Tuxtla, Tuxtepec, Tlaxicoyan, Tuxpan, Veracruz and Paso del Macho. Among the covers, the better items exhibit handstamps from Coapilla, Tuxtepec, Alvarado, Tlacotalpam, Paso del Macho and Veracruz (with a colorful 50c. yellow). Good condition throughout with many stamps with three or four margins. The 25c. "La Croix" has a nick in the right margin; NF and Scott (for watermarked stamps) is $1,881 for the stamps off cover.
