Durango-Mapimí Sub # 2 25c. red (#15-72), imperforate, used, pen cancelled, most likely bearing the rare sub #2 from Mapimí manuscript in red, good margins all around, small pinhole but very scarce. Durango is the only district that applied additional sub-office number overprints to twelve suboffices for a brief period (September 1872-May 1873), all being very rare. 2025 MEPSI certificate states it is genuine with manuscript cancel, but does not recognize the "2" scribble as a suboffice manuscript overprint. The original collector and we think it is likely to have been. Scott 95 var; NF $500.
