1856 Provisionals Type-set and printed on surface-coloured paper at the Official Gazette, Georgetown
The Unique Pair
4c. black on magenta or rose-carmine
4c. black on rose-carmine, vertical pair good to large margins, slightly cut into at top left, initialled "E.D.W." and cancelled by Demerara double-arc d.s. for Sep. 19 1856. Minor surface abrasions, slightly thinned in places, a tiny pinhole and slight horizontal crease between stamps not affecting the very fine appearance and in no way detracting from this rarity. The unique pair, of great significance as this is the only multiple recorded of any value in this highly significant issue; with a fantastic provenance, as it graced the collections of Ferrary, Townsend, Small and Greenwood.
