The Warren Expedition
1885 (25 Jan.) stampless soldier's envelope to Chester "from Trooper R Holmes 2MR BFF", further endorsed "On active service/No stamps procurable" in black ink and countersigned by the commanding office "J Riverton Capt OC Commanding at Radcliff's Farm", there is a large manuscript "1d" in black ink, Barkly G.W. c.d.s. (25.1) and Plymouth-to-Bristol T.P.O. (17.2), the reverse bearing Cape Town (28.1) and Chester (17.2) c.d.s. Horizontal and vertical creases where the envelope was folded and some edge faults.
