(m.m.) : SCVTVM • FIDEI • PROTEGET • EA .', pellet stops, crowned shield of arms, E-R at sides, 2.656g [40.98grns], 10h, m.m. 2 (Bergne 603 = Rostron 158 = Clark 163 = Murdoch 598 = Huth 80 = Clarke-Thornhill 95 = Raynes 160 = Slaney 6 = Comber I, 42; Schneider I, 817 same dies; Brown & Comber H24; North 2010; S.2541), hairline split and day-light spot at 2 o'clock in obverse legend, and with an unfortunate dig to field above the R on reverse, otherwise an outstandingly uniform and even round striking, extremely fine or very near so, of the greatest rarity and with a supreme pedigree, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded Almost Uncirculated (Cert. #8534362-014)
