PER | CRVCEM TVA ' SALVA nOS XPC ' REDEMPT ', ship surmounted by square-topped shield and mast dividing E and Rose, 5.19g [80.09grns], 9h, m.m. boar's head / dimidiated sun-and-rose (Lord Thurlow [1851], 365 = Evelyn Rashleigh [1909], 741 ['broken and repaired']; C E Blunt, "The Coinage of Edward V" [BNJ, 1937], p. 224, no. 2 & Plate, no. 4 same obverse die [Richard III]; Schneider I, 483; North 1670; S.2150), delicately removed from jewellery at reverse 12 o'clock, and with traces of clipping to an elongated and bright but handsomely retoned flan, superb and uniform for strike, a bolder very fine thus, and OF THE HIGHEST RARITY, but six specimens known of this transitional Pyx Mark / Regnal name combination; extraordinary, practically peerless and considered the finest known specimen, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded Almost Uncirculated ~ Cleaned (Cert. #8534362-005)
