PER | CRVCE x' TVA x' SALVA nOS XPC x REDEDMT [sic], saltire stops, ship surmounted by square-topped shield and mast dividing R and Rose, 5.10g [78.7grns], 5h, m.m. rose (Kenyon [1884], p. 73, no. 5; Schneider I, 498; SCMB, March 1983, EG22 same obverse die; Glens, 14-15 April 1970, lot 29 same dies; Lockett 3178; North 1677; S.2152), a scuff at 1 o'clock, and with a trace of die softness to highest features, otherwise struck on fuller flan sharply exhibiting the outrageous and inflammatory 'error' spelling of this infamous King's regnal name, a beauteous and gently cabinet toned specimen, almost extremely fine, and equally rare in this exemplary and wholesome state!, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded AU58 (Cert. #8534362-004)
