(x) NGC UNC | Richard II (1377-1399), Noble, Type IB, Tower (London), RIC | [ARD x' D] : G : REX : AnGL x' Z x FRAnC x' D : hIB : Z x AQ, saltire stops, King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, ornaments 1-1-1-1, ropes 3/1, quatrefoils 5/4, lys 4, annulet above sail, rev. + Ih'C : AVTEM : TRAnSIENS : PER : MEDIVM : ILLORVM : IBA [sic], double saltire stops, floriate cross, crowned leopards in angles, R at centre, 7.702g [11.888gns], 4h, i.m. cross pattée (Schneider I, 126/-, cf. 131 same obverse die; North 1302; S.1654), mysteriously smoothed in right field and lightly clipped, otherwise delightfully uniform for strike and accentuated by honey golden natural tone, struck details bolder than very fine / approaching extremely fine, the reverse die unknown to Schneider, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, fairly graded Uncirculated (Cert. #8534366-008)
