ED | WARD : DEI : GRA : REX : AnGL : DnS : hyB, annulet before EDWARD, double saltire stops, King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, ropes 3/1, ornaments [11]-11, quatrefoils 4/4, rev. + IhC : AVTEM : TRAnSIEnS : PER : MEDIV : ILLORVM : IBAT, double saltire stops, floriate cross crowned leopards in angles, E at centre, 7.708g [118.96gns], 10h, i.m. cross pattée (Schneider I, 86-87; North 1232; S.1503), a trace double-struck with aged dies, otherwise handsomely cabinet toned and lustrous, a pleasing very fine, the reverse bolder still, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, rather generously graded MS64 (Cert. #8534366-007)
