(x) NGC MS62 | Edward III (1327-1377), Transitional Treaty Period, Half-Noble, 1361, the so-called "Cursing" Type, Tower (London), E | DWARD : DEI x G REX x ANGL D : hIB, saltire stops, King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, ropes 3/3, ornaments 1-1-1-1, quatrefoils 4/3, lys 3, rev. + DOMINE : IN : FVRORE : TVO : ARGVTS : ME, saltire stops, floriate cross, crowned leopards in angles, annulets to corners of central panel, large E at centre, additional lys in second quarter, 3.916g [60.44grns], 2h, i.m. cross pattée (LAL dies k/5; Doubleday 184 this coin; Schneider I, -; North 1223; S.1500), some traces of doubling to reverse legends, otherwise a superb example for this difficult series, richly and wholesomely cabinet toned, approaching extremely fine, and very rare thus, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded MS62 (Cert. #8534366-005)
