(g) NGC PF65 CAM | William IV (1830-1837), Proof Half-Sovereign, 1831, struck on the experimental small flan, by William Wyon and Jean-Baptiste Merlen, bare head right, plain truncation, rev. coin alignment, crowned shield on mantle, ANNO - 1831 below, edge plain, 3.977g, 6h (Nobleman 205/6(b); Stratos 226; W&R 267 [R3]; Hill 409E; EGC II, 1038; S.3830), an evidently early or more probably original '1831 striking' with inverted die axes as customary for currency issues of the period, with a small toning spot on neck, otherwise brilliant, as struck, in NGC Black 'Pallas' holder, righteously graded PROOF 65 CAMEO (Cert. #8534312-003)
