India, Post-Gupta, Pratihara Empire (Gurjara Pratiharas), 'Vigrahapala' (778-883), Drachms (6), crude bust right with Devanagari legend 'Sri Vi' or 'Sri Vigra', rev. stylised fire altar and attendants, sometimes with further letters (Maheshwari 117, 121, 122, 123; MNI 381-402 ; Deyell 1-4), fine to very fine, with some interesting portraits; Gurjara Pratiharas, Bhoja I (836-85), Drachms (6), Varaha (boar incarnation of Vishnu) in heroic pose right, rev. Devanagari legend, Srimad Adivarahah above a basic represention of a fire altar and attendants, Vinayakapala I (912-944), Drachms (3), stylised boar right, rev. partial Devanagari legend, Sri Vinayaka Pala Deva and fire altar (MNI 335-52; Deyell 8,9), Drachms of Bhoja generally very fine, those of Vinayakapala about fine to fine (15)
