George I (1714-1727), South Sea Company, Shilling, 1723, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, SS C in angles, six strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 6h, 6.03g (ESC 1176; Bull 1586; Spink 3647), small metal flaw to reverse edge at 1 o'clock and a hairline flaw through the obverse field, lustrous and with a pleasing pearlescent tone, extremely fine
