Harold Leigh Postons was born in 1897 and was a fitter prior to enlisting into the Royal Flying Corps at Birmingham on 23 May 1916 and was sent to South Farnborough the same day with the rank of Air Mechanic 2nd Class. Postons joined No.13 Squadron and was appointed Air Mechanic 1st Class on 1 October 1917. Postons, together with Lieutenant W. L. O. Parker, took off for the front in RE8 A3827 at 11:25am on 31 October 1917 but were seen going down over Biache-St. Vaast as a result of action against Oberleutnant H. Bethge Ja.30, who noted the action at 12:10pm. He was reported missing with his death being officially accepted the same day and is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial.
