(x) Three: Sapper A. Drysdale, Royal Engineers, who was Killed in Action at Gallipoli in 1915

Alexander Drysdale was a native of Glasgow, born circa 1894, and was the son of John and Margaret Drysdale of Staplehill, Bristol. He attested for Great War service at Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, and joined the 2nd/1st (Lowland) Field Company of the Royal Engineers. He served with his Regiment at Gallipoli, where he disembarked on 29 June 1915. Drysdale was tragically killed in action there just a few weeks into his war service on 12 July, at the age of twenty-one. He was interred at the Skew Bridge Cemetery in Turkey; sold together with copied research and the recipient's dog tag.
