Frederick Robert Hall enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 25 April 1903 and entered the war in France with the 1st Battalion on 13 August 1914. He was wounded at some stage in 1914 during which time the Battalion shared in the actions at Mons, Aisne and Ypres, his name appears in the casualty list of 7 December 1914 in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph, published 1 February 1915. Hall was discharged on account of wounds on 31 May 1916 and is entitled to a Silver War Badge; sold together with riband bar.
