Edward William Drummond was born at Peckham, Surrey, and enlisted into the Grenadier Guards on 7 March 1891. Serving until 7 March 1894 he joined the Army Reserve but was recalled under Special Army Order of 20 December 1899. Entering the Anglo-Boer war in South Africa on 18 March 1900 he served until 31 July 1902 and was discharged again on 6 March 1903.

The medal rolls make no reference of replacement issues being issued, these probably date to the 1930/40's.

His first issue of medals included a King's South Africa Medal to which he is further entitled.

Sold together with copied service papers and medal roll entries, as well as a handwritten note stating that he died on 29 March 1962 and had not seen his wife and son for 40 years.
