(x) Five: Staff Nurse C. W. Hobbs, Territorial Army Nursing Service

1939-45 Star; Africa Star; France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, good very fine (5)

Christina Winifred Hobbs trained at the Birkenhead Municipal Hospital between 1931 and 1934 and was appointed a Staff Nurse with the Territorial Army Nursing Service on 30 May 1941. She served at 29 General Hospital at Qassim in November 1943. Hobbs disembarked in France in June 1944 with 88 General Hospital but then attested to 34 Casualty Clearing Station. She was posted to 86 General Hospital in August 1944 and then to 113 General Hospital in February 1945, being finally posted to the Military Hospital in Shaftesbury in March 1945.

The lot comes with the following items:

British Red Cross Society medal for Proficiency in Anti-Gas Training (3311 C. W. Hobbs) engraved.

(ii)
Territorial Army Nursing Service silver medal.

(iii)
Slip for Second World War Medals.

(iv)
Remains of outer label from card box for the Second World War Medals addressed to Mrs C. W. Myles (Married Name), Trevana, Burston Drive, Park St, St.Albans, Herts.

(v)
Photocopied newspaper cutting featuring an article about her service noting that she spent 12 months in the desert.
