Ian Peter Gilbert Lucas was from Grahamstown, South Africa and attested on 1 June 1942 into the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (S.A.) at Port Elizabeth. He served in the Mediterranean from 30 October 1942 to 6 August 1943 aboard Sirius and was present at the North African and Sicily landings. He served in the United Kingdom from 11 August 1943 until 13 December 1943. Lucas served on Assegai, Afrikander Malazar and Shiba. He saw service in the Indian Ocean between 13 December 1944 and 26 April 1945, in the Pacific Ocean from 26 April 1945 to 28 October 1945, and finally again in the Indian Ocean between 28 October 1945 and 15 November 1945. Lucas briefly served on U.S.S. California from 3-15 November 1945, finally being discharged on 6 February 1946; sold with copied service papers.
