Dalbahadur Thapa was born in 1925 and hailed from Thanthap, Gulmi District and served in The Sirmoor Rifles from 22 December 1941-21 December 1960. He served throughout the Second World War and given his Campaign Medals would have been a member of the 1st Battalion. They began the conflict in Cyprus and was part of 7th Indian Infantry Brigade, 4th Indian Division, where it fought at El Alamein on 23 October & 4 November 1942 - gaining the Battle Honour for the Regiment. A striking image of Riflemen of the unit, with Kukris drawn, was captured in this period. Following this it took part in the invasion of Italy, taking part in the famed Battle for Monte Cassino.

Dalbahadur Thapa then served five tours in Malaya with his unit, from April 1948-August 1950, May 1951-March 1955, November 1955-June 1956, August 1956-August 1957 and January-March 1957; sold with copied discharge document.
