(x) Five: Leading Stoker A. E. Green, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (South African Division)

1939-1945 Star; Atlantic Star; Burma Star, clasp, Pacific; War and Africa Service Medals 1939-45, all named '330430 A. E. Green', mounted as worn, very fine (5)

Anthony Edward Green was born on 30 March 1924 and enlisted into the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (South African Division) on 15 June 1942 at Durban with the rank of Stoker 2nd Class. He served on Afrikander II from 15 June to 13 July 1942 and on Afrikander IV briefly from 14-28 July 1942, before transferring to Afrikander I from 29 July 1942 until 27 October 1942. Green then served on Birmingham from 28 October 1942 until 21 March 1943 where he carried out escort patrols in the Indian Ocean. This was followed by brief service on Warspite from 22 March to 14 April 1943, and was then aboard Assegai from 15 April to 18 June 1943 before returning to Afrikander from 19 June until 8 August 1943. Green then served on Hawkins from 9 August 1943 to 29 February 1944 where he was again on escort patrols in the Indian Ocean. He then saw service on Resource from 1 March 1944 until 15 November 1945, where he was in Ceylon and the Far East, before having a brief stint on Aorangi from 16-27 November 1945. Finally, Green served on Rangani from 28 November 1945 to 14 January 1946 ahead of his discharge on 27 March 1946. His medals were despatched to him on 1 February 1954; sold with medal entitlement slip and copied service papers.
