Dilbahadur Gurunghailed from Phedi, Kaski District, which has the mighty 8,091m Annapurna high above it. He served in the ranks of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Gurkha Rifles from 27 October 1931-31 October 1944, serving with them on the North-West Frontier during 1937-39 and given his Second War awards, must have stayed in that area. He went to the Frontier Warfare School, Kabul in the Summer of 1944, passing with Distinction and then was commissioned. He joined The Sirmoor Rifles and remained with them and was eventually retired Captain in July 1954; sold together with copied service record.
