Headquarters 1st Cavalry Division: General Orders 16 September 1951:

Sergeant DONALD L. FOSTER, RA36339345, Infantry, United States Army, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, is cited for heroism in action against an armed enemy on 30 May 1951, near Yonchon, Korea. During an enemy attack, Sergeant FOSTER was assigned the mission of laying wire from the company positions to the battalion command post. Shortly after beginning his work, he was subjected to intense enemy fire and pinned down. Realizing the need for communications, Sergeant FOSTER braved the hail of enemy bullets and finished his task. Later, when communications were disrupted, he again moved into an exposed area to repair the wire. As a result of Sergeant Foster's actions, vital information was transmitted, which materially aided the company in repulsing the enemy attack. Sergeant FOSTER's heroism reflects great credit on himself and the military service. Entered federal service from Illinois.

Sold with photocopied research which includes a letter dated 2 August 1963 listing Foster's awards which also include a Meritorious Unit Emblem with numeral 2. It also mentions Bravery Gold Medal of Greece as opposed to the medal listed here.
