The Lowtherstown Masonic Volunteers were formed ca. 1783 by Lodge No. 386 under the auspices of the masonic Grand Lodge of Ireland; during this time there was a large and significant volunteer movement throughout many masonic lodges - indeed the well-known Dungannon Volunteer Convention led to the suggestion that: 'Every Volunteer Battalion should have its own Masonic Lodge and that every Masonic Lodge should set up its own Volunteer Battalion.'

Sold together with a file of copied research relating to the history of the unit and the Volunteer Movement at this time.
