(x) Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R. (Kx.75489 H. L. Goddard. S.P.O. H.M.S. Eagle.), good very fine

Harry Langley Goddard was born on 4 January 1908 at Portsmouth and was a chauffeur upon his joining the Royal Navy in January 1926. He served in Motor Torpedo Boats from April 1937 and aboard MTB-100 from October-December 1938. Upon the outbreak of the Second World War he was aboard Eagle, with whom he was aboard when issued the L.S. & G.C. Medal in December 1940. Goddard was aboard Express from September 1941 and was assigned to Force Z. She went to the rescue of stricken survivors of the Prince of Wales - this being captured in a striking image. Goddard was released in March 1948.
