Silver Cross of Gallantry Awarded 18 October 1944:
'For rescuing a boy from drowning in the Bridgewater Canal, Trafford Park, on July 25th, 1934.'
Harry Firth eventually rose to become an Assistant Scientific Officer by 1978. He started work at the Regent Road Works in Salford, he also worked at the Scientists Department at Stretford.
