An unusual M.S.M. pair awarded to Quartermaster-Sergeant W. Wright, Royal Fusiliers

William Wright was born in Carlow, Ireland in 1839 and was a shoemaker by trade upon his joining the Royal Fusiliers in November 1857. He served some 21 years 73 days with the unit, being at Gibraltar for 5 years, 3 months, Malta for 1 year, 7 months and in North America for 2 years, 4 months. Having been awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal, he would likely have surrendered this in exchange for the M.S.M.; sold together with copied service record.
