M.M. London Gazette 20 August 1918, (Mesopotamia)

John William Bracken was a native of Sedbergh and enlisted with the Border Regiment before transferring to the 17th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps at the end of the Great War. His award is stated as being for Mesopotamia however this unit did not serve in Mesopotamia during the Great War, only being posted there after hostilities. Bracken clearly saw post war service however he was demobilised on 26 October 1919; sold together with copied London Gazette extract.
