Kevin Blissett was born on 7 June 1959 and enlisted in the Green Howards at Middlesborough on 30 June 1980. Blissett had extensive overseas service in Canada, Germany, Poland, Bosnia, Australia, Cyprus and Northern Ireland. According to his certificate of service most of his service was in the Signal Platoon providing communication support to a 1000-man strong organisation.

During the Bosnian Conflict he served in the Donji Vakuf Region during 1996 -97 where the Green Howards, now converted to the Armoured Infantry role as part of 24 Air Mobile Brigade, patrolled in Warrior APVs. His last role before leaving the Regiment was that of vehicle fleet manager of the Regiment's 8 armoured vehicles and 2 wheeled vehicles. He left the army after exemplary service on 14 July 2002; sold together with copy certificate of service, copy testimonial, copy certificate of discharge, and State of Kuwait decree and enclosure slip for Saudi Liberation of Kuwait Medal.
