(x) A 'Korea January 1951' casualty group awarded to Private E. Watson, Northumbrian Fusiliers, who was wounded in action on 20 January 1951

Note only one fusilier appears on the Korea casualty roll with the initial E. Watson.

Eric Watson was the youngest son of Tom Watson of Coldcotes Drive, Gipton Estate, Leeds. He first enlisted with the West Yorkshire Regiment before being transferred to the Northumbrian Fusiliers for service in Korea. An article in the Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer on 26 February 1951 states:

'He sustained gunshot wounds in an arm and a leg on January 3 [SIC only one E Watson appears on the roll and he is wounded on 20 January]. Since then he has been in three hospitals in Japan. Before joining the Army he worked at Temple Newsam pit. He formerly attended Coldcotes Secondary Modern School.'
