The campaign pair awarded to Corporal H. E. Bradish, Royal Artillery, whose gallantry in riding for aid through enemy lines when his patrol was surrounded earned him a 'mention' on 12 January 1902

Henry Edward Bradish was born at Shoeburyness, Essex in 1874 and attested on 5 February 1892. Serving until 1898 he joined the Army Reserve but was mobilised again for service in South Africa on in November 1899. Posted to 37th Battery Royal Artillery in the country his service papers detail his act of gallantry stating:
'A patrol being surrounded near Braaklaagte, O.R.C. on 12.1.02, volunteered to carry message for assistance & rode through very heavy fire to do so'
Bradish was 'mentioned' for his actions (London Gazette 25 November 1902) and remained in the country until 27 June 1902 serving with the Royal Artillery Mounted Rifles in the last months. He was discharged on 4 February 1904.
