William Honeyman was born at Dundee, Forfar and worked as a Labourer by Trade having served in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion Royal Highlanders, prior to attesting into the Gordon Highlanders on 10 October 1893. Serving in the East Indies between 18 January 1896 - 18 October 1898, from there he served in Egypt from 19 October 1898 - 8 December 1898. He returned home and was then sent to South Africa from 9 November 1899 where he stayed until 8 September 1902 before returning home on 9 September 1902. Honeyman was discharged as Medically Unfit on 21 May 1904 and died on 29 August 1952 from Bronchitis.
