A remarkable Q.S.A. awarded to Private J. Langford, Worcestershire Regiment, who was killed by a lightning strike at Ficksburg on 9 November 1901

Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 (5329 Pte J. Langford. Worcester: Regt), the last clasp not attached, otherwise deeply toned, very fine

J. Langford enlisted on 10 November 1898 and was serving with the 1st Battalion when he was killed at Ficksburg as a result of a lightning strike on 9 November 1901. Fifty-six men were killed by lightning in the war. Vide The Register of the Anglo-Boer War.
