(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Defence of Kimberley (3698 Pte A. Eyre, 1st L.N.Lanc: Regt), toned, good very fine
Alfred Eyre was born at Blackburn, Lancashire. He was a Contractors Labourer and additionally served in the 4th Battalion North Lancashire Regiment. Attesting for the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on 9 July 1892 he saw further service in the East Indies between 27 November 1893 - 19 February 1896. He then saw service in Ceylon from 20 February 1896 - 10 February 1899 before going to South Africa seeing service from 11 February 1899 - 24 April 1900 before returning home. Eyre was transferred to Army Reserve on 1 May 1902 and was finally discharged on 8 July 1904.
