Khedive's Star 1884 (Berks 1250), light edge bruise to ray, very fine

Thomas Evans was born at Stoke near Wallingford on 31 January 1864, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Evans. Joining the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Berkshire Regiment on 12 January 1883 he later joined the Regiment proper on 9 December 1884. Posted to the 1st Battalion from the 2nd Battalion on 15 October 1885 he joined them in Egypt just prior to the Battle of Ginnis fought on 30 December 1885.

Evans remained in Egypt until May 1885 when he returned to Britain and served there until 12 November 1892 when he was transferred to the Army Reserve. Remobilised on 6 June 1900 he saw service in the Anglo-Boer War (medal and three clasps), returning to Britain on 12 January 1901 when he was discharged on 31 December; sold together with copied research including medal rolls, service papers and a birth certificate.
