10 members of the Yorkshire Regiment are known to have the Nile 1884-85 Clasp.
Thomas Snape a 19-year-old solicitors' clerk from Sheffield enlisted at Richmond on 16 July 1880 in the 1st Yorkshire Regiment. Promoted to Sergeant on 8 December 1882, he was awaiting trial on 21 September 1883, an offence which resulted in him being reduced in rank to Private on 26 September 1883. He served in Egypt from 4 August 1884 to 28 July 1886 taking part in the Battle of Ginnis. His papers confirm entitlement to the Khedive's Star. Snape was discharged on 11 July 1892; sold together with copied service papers.
