Arthur Bown was a twenty-year-old servant from Pimlico when he enlisted in the Coldstream Guards on 22 January 1873, steadily promoted through the ranks he was made Colour Sergeant on 22 January 1885. His only overseas service was in Egypt and his service papers confirm entitlement to the Khedives Star and Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Transferring to the Bedfordshire Regiment on 30 September 1888 he was discharged on 5 September 1895; sold together with copied research.
