Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (2060 Pte. W. H. Harris. 2/7th Foot.), good very fine

Dan Kitchen was born at Chadlinton, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire in 1858 and attested under the false name of William Harris on 22 June 1878. Seeing service in Afghanistan during the Second Anglo-Afghan War. The Battalion was present at Kandahar after the British defeat at Miawand and saw action at Battle of Deh Khajah. Kitchen declared the truth of his identity on 7 March 1889; sold together with a transcribed medal roll and copied service papers.
