Auction: 24038 - The Dr. Martin M Mortazavi Collection of Persian Banknotes
Lot: 27

(x) Imperial Bank of Persia, Specimen 50 Tomans, ND (1924-32), serial number F/A 000000,
brown, pale orange, blue, pink, and green tones adorn this banknote, featuring Naser-al-Din Shah Qajar in an oval frame at the right centre. Interestingly no signatures are present below the image, with the value displayed in the field.

On the back, the design showcases brown and green hues, with the Imperial arms positioned at the centre. The value is prominently displayed at the centre and on both sides. Red serial numbers are located at each corner of the note.

Despite the absence of the printed "payable at Tehran" inscription on this specimen, the printed prefix was exclusively intended for Tehran. Printed issued notes with this prefix, would have had the "payable at Tehran" inscription overprinted.

Remarkably, only 4 specimens of this type have been graded by PMG, underscoring the rarity of this banknote,

(Pick 16s, BNB 118), in PMG holder 58 Choice About Uncirculated, printer's annotation, only 1 note in higher grade on PMG Census, magnificent!
