1864 "Eagles" Issue
Various Districts Collection of 1r. Blue and 2r. Yellow 5th Period Eagles (1866) by consignment number. Excellent assembly of 362 stamps (144 of 1r. and 218 of 2r.) in a stockbook, very well arranged by consignment and subconsignment numbers, with images of the cancellations from each town. 142 stamps are from suboffices, 35 of which received 100 or fewer stamps. Most districts are represented, including the elusive Apam, Mérida, Campeche, Toluca, Lagos, Córdova, and Pachuca. Suboffices include Carro, Chietla, Venado, San Felipe, Matehuala, Fresnillo, Aguascalientes, San Juan, Tehuantepec, Teocuicatlan, Tlaxcala, Iturbide, Valle de Santiago, Silao, Celaya, Zapotlán, Mascota, San Luis de la Paz, Moctezuma, and Uruapan, among others. A 2nd Period Durango bisect on piece is also included. Most stamps are in very good condition. Scott 21-23; NF $4,014, though this does not account for the much higher value of suboffices.
