1864 "Eagles" Issue
Various Districts ½r. to 8r., an assembly comprising 157 stamps from all five periods, accompanied by 11 covers. The off-cover stamps include representations from 21 districts: Aguascalientes, Apam, Campeche, Chalco, Colima, Durango, Lagos, Mazatlán, Maravatío, Mérida, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Orizaba, Pachuca, Soyaniquilpan, Tampico, Saltillo, Tulancingo, Tlalpujahua, Toluca, and Tula. The covers originate from Durango, Pachuca, Tampico, Aguascalientes, Colima, Nazas, Monterrey and Campeche (this being faulty but scarce). Notable highlights include rare unoverprinted examples: ½r. Brown (2), 1r. Ultramarine, 4r. Green, and 8r. Red (NF 17A, 18A, 20A, and 21A), which are not the later reprints that differ in size from the standard stamps. Also featured are a set of 1890s "essays" and a printing anomaly. The overall condition is excellent, with margins frequently clear all around or on three sides, albeit with some scattered faults.
