1856 Issue
Various Districts ½r. Blue, group of 48 stamps with singles, pairs and strips of four, two cover fronts, one cover and an early Mexico district registered-mail front, displaying fresh examples and in good condition, often with attractive margins, with districts including Mazatlán, Veracruz, Córdova and Mexico. The registered cover front is addressed to Morelia, dated August 21, 1856 and franked by 1r., featuring the earliest cancel used in Mexico City (Schatzkès #826); part of the franking missing, nevertheless most likely representing one of the earliest dates known. Mazatlán includes 17 stamps (Mazatlán, Cosala, Culiacán and Sinaloa); the other two cover fronts originate from El Fuerte y Cosala. Veracruz comprises 31 stamps (Veracruz, Alvarado, San Andrés Cosamaloapan, Minatitlán and Otatitlán). Córdova is represented by one cover from Huatusco. Scott 1; NF $1,855 as singles off-cover., ,
