1856 Issue
Mexico District 4r. Red, full margins all around, and 2r. Emerald, cut into at bottom and right, on registered cover front from Mexico City to Orizava, which contained lottery tickets to be sold in that town, and dated September 6, 1856, paying the first rate. A very scarce registered mail. Scott 3b, 4.

Note: Regulation required that, upon receipt of registered mail, its front was to be cut and signed by the addressee as proof of receipt. The front was then to be sent back to the office of origin and destroyed after two years, making these fronts very scarce.
