Maritime Mail
1863, 1/2r. orange, two examples with sheet margin at top, cut into in places, each tied by pen cross to 1865 (8 Jan.) entire letter sent internally within the country from Puerto Cabello to Caracas, transported aboard the famous "Robert Todd" mail steamer, as confirmed by the clear "pr. Robert Todd" endorsement (with an additional notation repeated on the inside sheet), representing a unique example of a cover with the indication of being transported by the "Robert Todd" steamer, which was primarily intended for postal connections with St. Thomas, Danish West Indies. A fascinating rarity of the maritime mail of this Caribbean area. Illustrated in Ringström and Tester’s "The Private Ship Letter Stamps of the World", Part 1, on page 105. Dr. Heister Certificate (2020). Scott 12. Photo.
