1957 40c. essay in brown, taken from the 1954-59 20c. value with a lion in black applied, the value has been altered to 40c. being hand-painted in brown and Chinese white and with a shadow hand-painted below the lion, affixed to thick grey card and with perforations being hand-painted all around. Numbered '649-15', 'approved' and subsequently altered with 'NOT' inserted, signed and dated (12/12/57) at foot; superb and unique. Photo
