1900 (6 Apr.) envelope to Scotland, bearing seriffed overprint Cape 3d. on 1d. strip of three [3-5] and a single [6], all tied by Mafeking c.d.s. and showing violet crayon "1/-" and initials applied by John Nevett, Base Train clerk at Lobatsi, with , on reverse, Crocodile Pools (20.4), Bulawayo (23.4) and arrival (26.5) datestamps, after being carried by the "Carisbrook Castle" from Cape Town to Southampton; the adhesives with some small perf faults due to being affixed just over edge and the envelope with some light creases. Note: On arrival in Bulawayo, the batches of letters received from Mafeking, usually in groups of thirty, were examined on the Military Post Office "Base Train", the postage verified, the batch number noted, and then initialled by the checking clerk.
